BACK-Cast on 120 (128) sts. Work k 2, p 2 ribbing for 3 ½ ins.

Inc. row-Continuing ribbing, inc. 30 sts evenly spaced across row; 150 (158) sts. Work stockinette st, increasing 1 st each side every 1 in. 6 times; 162 (170) sts. Work even until 9 ins. above ribbing. Mark for underarm.

Armholes-Bind off 9 (11) sts at beg. of each of next 2 rows. Dec. 1 st each side every 2nd row 11 times, end with p row; 122 (126) sts.

Back Opening-K 61 (63) sts and place on holder for right half of back, finish row. Work even on 61 (63) sts of left half until 7 (7 ¼) ins. above marker.

Shoulder-Bind off 11 sts at beg. of each of next 2 rows worked from armhole edge; bind off 10 (11) sts at beg. of each of next 2 rows worked for armhole edge. Bind off remaining 19 sts for back of neck.

Beg. at center back, finish right half to correspond.

FRONT-Cast on 128 (136) sts. Work ribbing as for back. Inc. row-Continuing ribbing, inc. 31 sts across row; 159 (167) sts. Work in stockinette st, shaping underarm edges as on back, until same length as back to armhole, end with p row; 171 (179) sts. Mark for underarm.

Neck Shaping-Work pat. on 44 (46) sts and place on holder for left side of front, bind off 24 sts, finish row. Work right half of front, decreasing 1 st at neck edge every row 8 times, with care to keep pat. Work even on remaining 36 (38) sts until armhole is same length as on back.

Shoulder-Bind off 9 sts at beg. of each of next 2 rows worked from armhole edge; bind off 9 (10) sts at beg. of each of next 2 rows worked from armhole edge. Beg. at neck edge, finish left half to correspond.

SLEEVES-Cast on 100 (104) sts, Work stockinette st, increasing 1 st each side every ½ in. 5 times; 110 (114) sts. Work even until 3 ins. from beg. Bind off 5 (4) sts at beg. of each of next 4 (6) rows. Dec. 1 st each side every 2nd row 30 times. Bind off remaining 30 sts.

FINISHING-Sew seams. Sew in sleeves with seam at center underarm. Work 1 row sc from right side around sleeves, neck and back opening, holding in neck edge to desired size. Work 1 more row of sc on right edge of back opening, making 4 small button loops. Steam.
