MATERIAL:
4 (3) balls Fingering Yarn 3 ply (1 oz. ball)
1 pair S.P knitting needles No. 2 (3 mm.) and No. 3 (3¼ mm.)
GAUGE: 7 sts. = 1 inch
BACK: Cast on 96 (92) sts. with No. 3 needles and work in garter st. for 10 rows. Change to stock. st. and work even until the entire piece measures 9½ (9) inch. or any des. length to underarm. Bind off for armhole at the beg. of the next 2 rows 7 sts., at the beg. of the next 2 rows 2 sts. 78 (74) sts. left. Work even for 5¾ (5½) inch. from the first binding off. Bind off for shoulders at the beg. of the next 6 (4) rows 8 (11) sts., rem. 30 sts. bind off for neck.
FRONT: Cast on 51 (48) sts. with No. 3 needles and work in garter st. for 10 rows. Change to stock. st. and pattern, keeping the 3 sts. at center edge in garter st. all the way up.
1st row: K3 sts. (border) K4, P1, K3, P1, K39 (36) sts. to end of row.
2nd row: P39 (36) sts., K1, P3, K1, P4, K3.
3rd row: K3 sts. (border), K4, make a drawn cable over next 5 sts. like in 3rd row of Skirt with Drawn Cables Pattern, K39 (36) sts.
4th row: Like 2nd row.
5th row: Like 1st row.
6th row: Like 2nd row.
7th row: K3 sts. (border), K4, make a drawn cable over the next 5 sts. like in 7th row of Skirt with Drawn Cables Pattern, K39 (36) sts.
8th row: Like 2nd row.
9th row: Like 1st row.
10th row: Like 2nd row.
Repeat pattern from 3rd to 10th row incl.
Work even until the whole piece measures like back. Bind off for armhole at seam edge 7 (6) sts. and at the beg. of the next 3 rows at seam edge 2 sts., 38 (36) sts. left. Work even for 4¼ (4) inch. from the first binding off. Bind off for neck 8 sts. at center edge and then always 2 sts. at center edge every other row until 24 (22) sts. are left over. Work as high as back and bind off at armhole edge 8 (11) sts. 3 (2) times. Work the other front to correspond.
FINISHING: Sew up shoulder seams. Right side facing you, pick up with No. 2 needles 64 (60) sts. around neck and work 6 rows in garter st. Bind off loosely. Right side facing you, pick up with No. 2 needles 80 (76) sts. around each armhole and work 6 rows in garter st. Bind off loosely. Sew up side seams. Steam lightly.
