MATERIAL:
4 (5-6) skeins Knitting Worsted or Orion Sayelle gold (2 oz. skein)
2 (2-3) skeins Knitting Worsted or Orion Sayelle green (2 oz. skein)
1 pair knitting needles each No. 5 and No. 8
1 set sock needles No. 5
1 stitch holder
1 button for hat

GAUGE: 5 sts. = 1 inch

PATTERN:
1st row gold: K across row.
2nd row gold: P across row.
3rd row green: * K1, slip 1 (yarn in front of work), K1, slip 2 (yarn in back of work) repeat from * across row end K1, slip 1 (yarn in front of work), K1.
4th row green: * K1, slip 1 (yarn in front of work), K1, slip 2 (yarn in front of work) repeat from * across row end K1, slip 1 (yarn in front of work), K1.
5th row gold: K across row.
6th row gold: P across row Repeat these 6 rows for pattern.

BACK:
With gold and No. 5 needles cast on 54 (58-62) sts. and work in ribbing K1, P1 for 1½  (2-2) inch. Incr. 4 (5-6) sts. at even intervals across last row of ribbing. Change to No. 8 needles and pattern. With 53 (63-68) sts. work even until the entire piece measures 8½  (9½-10½) inch. or any des. length to underarm. Shape raglan armhole: bind off at the beg. of the next 2 rows 2 sts. (all sizes). 1st row: K1, slip 1, K1, p.s.s.o., work to last 3 sts., K2 tog., K1. 2nd row: work across row. Repeat these 2 rows 18 (20-22) times. Rem. 18 (19-20) sts. slip on a holder.

FRONT:
Work Front as Back until 11 (12-13) raglan decr. are completed. (There are 32 (35-38) sts. left on needle.) Still cont. to decr. for raglan, work across 9 (10-12) sts. and slip them to a holder to be worked later. Bind off for neck next 12 (13-12) sts. and work over rem. 9 (10- 12) sts. only. Decr. for raglan 6 (7-8) times more and at the same time decr. 1 st. at neck edge every other row 2 (2-3) times. Fasten off last st. Slip sts. from holder back to needle and finish this side of neck to correspond.

SLEEVE:
With gold and No. 5 needles cast on 32 (34-38) sts. and work in ribbing K1, P1 for 1½ (2-2) inch. Incr. 1 (4-0) sts. at even intervals across last row of ribbing. Change to No. 8 needles and pattern. Incr. 1 st. at the beg. and end of every 6th row until 43 (46-50) sts. are on needle. Work even until the entire sleeve measures 9½ (10½-11½) inch, or any des. length to underarm. Shape raglan cap: bind off at the beg. of the next 2 rows 2 sts. Decr. for raglan as on back 18 (20-22) times. Bind off rem. 3 (2-2) sts. Work the other sleeve to correspond.

FINISHING:
Sew up side and sleeve seams. Sew sleeves to front and back. Turtleneck: Right side facing you pick up with gold and No. 5 sock needles 58 (62-66) sts. around the neck incl. sts. from holders and work in ribbing K1, P1 for 3½ (3½-4) inch. Bind off loosely K as K and P as P. Block to size.

HAT:
With gold and No. 5 needles cast on 56 (60-64) sts. and work in ribbing K1, P1 for 1 inch. Incr. 2 (3-4) sts. across last row of ribbing. Change to No. 8 needles and pattern and work even until the entire piece measures 4½ (5-5½) inch. Incr. 1 at. before and after the 2 (1-2) center sts. every K row 7 (8-8) times. Work to center of row, fold piece in half and weave sts. tog. Neckband: Right side facing you pick up with gold and No. 5 needles 54 (56-60) sts. around the neck and work in ribbing K1, P1 for 6 rows. Bind off loosely K as K and P as P. Chin strap: Pick up 5 sts. (all sizes) at end of ribbing and work in ribbing K1, P1 for 2 inch. (all sizes). Bind off K as K and P as P. Make a loop at end of strap, sew buttons in place and block to size.
