MATERIALS:
1 Pr. Size 10 Standard Knitting Needles
3 oz. 4-ply Knitting Worsted

GAUGE: 4 sts to 1 in.

Cast on 41 sts (2 yr. 45 sts—3 yr. 49 sts). Work in ribbing of K 1, P 1, for 6 rows. Work in pattern at follows:
Row 1 (right side)—K 1, * P 1, K 1; repeat from *.
Row 2—Knit.
Repeat above 2 rows until piece measures 4½ in. (2 yr. 5 in.—3 yr. 5½ in.) then work as follows:
Row 1 (right side)—K6, P 1, K 1, to within last 6 sts, K 6.
Row 2—Knit.
Repeat rows 1 and 2 once, then bind off 3 sts at beginning of each of next 2 rows for under­arm. Keeping the first and last 3 sts worked in garter st and remaining sts in pattern work even until piece measures 4½ in. (2 yr. 5 in.—3 yr. 5½ in.) to shoulder.
K 7 (2 yr. K 8—3 yr. K 9) for right shoulder. Place remaining sts on st holder. K 4 rows for right shoulder: place on st-holder. Place sts from 1st st-holder to needle. Bind off 21 sts (2 yr. 23 sts—3 yr. 25 sts) for back of neck. On remaining 7 sts (2 yr. 8 sts—3 yr. 9 sts) K 5 rows ending at shoulder edge. Turn. K back, cast on 21 sts (2 yr. 23 sts—3 yr. 25 sts) loosely for front of neck. Place sts of right shoulder to needle and K them.

FRONT: Keeping first and last 3 sts worked in garter st and remaining sts in pattern work as given for back to underarm. Cast on 3 sts at beginning of each of next 2 rows for underarm. Work to correspond to back. Bind off. Sew side seams.
