These instructions are for size thirty-eight.

Materials:

Columbia Scotch Yarn. 4 ounce skeins, 3 skeins Khaki, 8853.

Needles:

Columbia Celluloid or Boye Non-inflammable Needles, size 5.

Gauge:

6 sts = 1 inch. 8 rows = 1 inch.

Back:

Cast on 120 sts and work even in k 1, p 1 ribbing for 4 inches. Change to stockinette st and work even for 11 inches. Bind off 6 sts at the beginning of each of the next 2 rows, then dec 1 st each side every other row 15 times. When work measures 9 inches straight up from bound off sts at underarm, bind off 8 sts at the beginning of the next 2 rows, then bind off 7 sts at the beginning of the next 2 rows. Then work the remaining 48 sts in the k 1, p 1 ribbing for 1 ½ inches. Bind off.

Front:

Cast on 114 sts and work even in k 1, p 1 ribbing for 4 inches. Change to stockinette st and work even for 11 inches. Bind off 6 sts at the beginning of each of the next 2 rows, then dec 1 st each side every other row 12 times. At the same time, when work measures 1 ½ inches straight up from bound off sts at underarm, work over to center, place remaining sts on st pin and work the left shoulder.

At neck edge, dec 1 st, then dec 1 st every other row 11 times, then dec 1 st at same edge every third row 12 times more. When work measures 9 inches straight up from bound off sts at underarm, bind off 8 sts from armhole edge, then bind off 7 sts every other row once. Slip sts from st pin and work right shoulder to correspond, reversing shaping.

To Assemble:

Pick up 120 sts at front of neck and work in k 1, p 1 ribbing for 1 ½ inches. Work miter as follows: Dec 2 sts at point of V by k 2 sts tog 2 times every row. Bind off. Sew shoulder seams; pick up 156 sts around each armhole and work in k 1, p 1 ribbing for 1 inch; sew underarm seams, bind off.
