SCALE: 6 sts to 1 in.

Jack Frost Sport Yarn—3 2-oz. Balls

BACK: With No. 4 Needles cast on 81 sts. Work in ribbing of K 1, P 1, for 3½ in. Change to No. 8 Needles and P 1 row increasing to 99 sts at even intervals across row. Work in pat­tern as follows:

Row 1 (right side)—P 3,* K 3, P 3; repeat from * across row.

Row 2—K 3, * P 3, K 3; repeat from * across row. Repeat above 2 rows until piece measures 6½ in. from lower edge ending on wrong side. On the next row, work in cable twist pattern as follows: P 3, K 3, over the first 27 sts, * slip next 6 sts onto D P N (double pointed Needle), hold in back of work, K next 3 sts, then bring the slipped sts forward; slip the 3 P sts from D P N to left hand Needle and P them, then K the 3 remaining sts from D P N; P 3, K3, P3; repeat from * once, work cable twist over the next 9 sts; P 3, K 3. across remaining 27 sts. Work in ribbing of K 3, P 3, for 3 in., then repeat cable twist row as described above. Work in ribbing of K 3, P 3, for 3 in., then repeat cable twist over the 9 center sts only, on the next row and every 3 in. to neck edge. When piece measures 10 in. from lower edge; bind off 6 sts at beginning of each of next 2 rows for underarm, then bind off 3 sts at beginning of each of next 4 rows for armhole shaping. Work even in pattern until piece measures 8½ in. from underarm. Bind off 6 sts at beginning of each of next 8 rows for shoulders. Change to No. 4 Needles increasing to 31 sts. Work in ribbing of K 1, P 1, for 7 rows. Bind off.

FRONT: Work same as back until piece measures 6 in. from underarm. Work over 27 sts; place on st-holder. Bind off next 21 sts for front of neck. On remaining 27 sts, work 2 rows even; decrease 1 st at neck edge every other row 3 times. Work even until piece measures 8½ in. from underarm. Starting at shoulder edge, bind off 6 sts every other row 4 times. Work other side to correspond.

FRONT NECKBAND: With No. 4 Needles on right side of garment, pick up 65 sts from shoulder to shoulder. Work in ribbing of K 1, P 1, for 7 rows. Bind off.

Sew shoulder seams.

ARMHOLE BANDS: With No. 4 Needles on right side of garment, pick up 65 sts from shoulder to shoulder. Work in ribbing of K 1, P 1, for 7 rows. Bind off. Sew underarm seams.
