Size 12 to 14 yr.

1 Pr. Standard No. 2 Needles—14 in.
1 Pr. Standard No. 4 Needles—14 in.
Jack Frost Sport Yarn or Heathertone—3 2-oz. Balls

BACK: With No. 2 Needles cast on 97 sts. Work in ribbing of K 1, P 1, for 3 in. Change to No. 4 Needles increasing to 98 sts. Work in pattern as follows: Row 1 (right side)—* P 2, K 4, repeat from * across row ending P 2. Row 2—* K 2, P 4, repeat from * across row ending K 2. Repeat above 2 rows until piece measures 10 in. from lower edge. Bind off 6 sts at beginning of each of next 2 rows for underarm. Decrease 1 st at each end every other row 8 times. Work even until piece measures 8 ½ in. from underarm. Bind off 6 sts at beginning of each of next 6 rows. Change to No. 2 Needles increasing to 35 sts and work in ribbing of K 1, P 1, for 7 rows. Bind off.

FRONT: Work same as back to underarm, then work as follows: bind off 6 sts at beginning of next row for underarm, work over next 43 sts. Place on st-holder. On remaining 49 sts, work 1 row even; bind off 6 sts at underarm edge once; decrease 1 st at underarm edge every other row 8 times. At the same time, decrease 1 st at neck edge on the 2nd row and every other row 6 times, then every 4th row until 18 sts remain. Starting at shoulder edge, bind off 6 sts every other row 3 times. Work other side to correspond.

FRONT NECKBAND: With No. 2 Needles, on right side of garment, pick up 64 sts from left shoulder to point of V, 1 st at point of V, and 64 sts from point of V to right shoulder. Work in ribbing of K 1, P 1, decreasing 1 st at each side of center st at point of V every row, for 7 rows. Bind off decreasing as described above. Sew shoulder seams.

ARMHOLE BANDS: With No. 2 Needles, on right side of garment, pick up 123 sts from end to end of armhole. Work in ribbing of K 1, P 1, for 7 rows. Bind off. Sew underarm seams.
