These instructions are for size thirty-eight.

Materials:

Columbia Scotch Yarn, 4 ounce skeins. 4 skeins Dark Oxford, 8852.

Needles:

Boye Steel Circular Needle, size 5. Boye Steel Circular Needle, 16 inch, size 4.

Gauge:

6 sts = 1 inch. 8 rows = 1 inch.

With size 5 needle, cast on 70 sts and work back and forth on the circular needle as follows:

Row 1—K 2, inc 1 st in next st (left front), k 1 (seam st), inc in next st, k 7, inc in next st (left sleeve), k 1, (seam st), inc in next st, k 40, inc in next st (back), k 1 (seam st), inc in next st, k 7, inc in next st (right sleeve), k 1 (seam st), inc in next st, k 2 (right front).

Row 2 — P back.

Row 3 — K 3, inc in next st, k 1, inc in next st, k 9, inc in next st, k 1, inc in next st, k 42, inc in next st, k 1, inc in next st, k 9, inc in next st, k 1, inc in next st, k 3.

Row 4 — P back.

Continue working in this manner, increasing 1 st each side of each of the 4 seam sts every k row. When work measures ½ inch from start (for neck shaping) inc 1 st each side, then inc 1 st each side every other row 8 times more. Then cast on 18 sts, join sts and work around needle. When raglan increases have been completed (410 sts on needle), work over to 85 sts of sleeve, add the 2 seam sts, and work back and forth on these 87 sts for 2 inches. Dec 1 st each side, then dec 1 st each side every inch 5 times more. Then dec 1 st each side every ½ inch, 15 times more. Work even for ½ inch, dec 1 st and work in k 2, p 2 ribbing for 4 inches. Bind off.

Make other sleeve in same manner then join back and front of sweater (236 sts) and work even for 11 inches. Change to k 2, p 2 ribbing and work even for 4 inches. Bind off.

With size 4 needle, pick up 136 sts around neck and work in k 2, p 2 ribbing for 5 inches. Bind off.

To Assemble:

Sew sleeve and underarm seams.
