MATERIALS
BERNAT Nylo Sports (2 oz. balls) — 4(4-4-5) Scarlet (M C); 1 each of White (Color A) and Navy (Color B)
1 pair each straight knitting needles Nos. 3 and 5 OR ANY SIZE NEEDLES WHICH WILL GIVE THE STITCH GAUGE GIVEN BELOW

GAUGE: 6 sts = 1 inch; 8 rows = 1 inch
RIGHT CABLE TWIST: To be worked on 10 sts as designated.
Row 1: P 1 M C, K 4 M C, K 4 Color A, P 1 Color A.
Row 2: K 1 Color A, P 4 Color A, P 4 M C, K 1 M C.
Row 3: P 1 M C, sl next 4 M C sts onto d p needle and hold in back of work, K 4 Color A, K 4 M C sts from d p needle, P 1 Color A.
Rows 4, 6, 8, 10 and 12: K 1 Color A, P 4 M C, P 4 Color A, K 1 M C.
Rows 5, 7, 9 and 11: P 1 M C, K 4 Color A, K 4 M C, P 1 Color A.
Row 13: P 1 M C, sl next 4 Color A sts onto d p needle and hold in back of work, K 4 M C, K 4 Color A sts from d p needle, P 1 Color A.
Rows 14, 16, 18 and 20: Repeat Row 2.
Rows 15, 17 and 19: Repeat Row 1.
Repeat these 20 rows for right cable twist.
LEFT CABLE TWIST: To be worked on 10 sts as designated.
Row 1: P 1 Color A, K 4 Color A, K 4 M C, P 1 M C.
Row 2: K 1 M C, P 4 M C, P 4 Color A, K 1 Color A.
Row 3: P 1 Color A, sl next 4 Color A sts onto d p needle and hold in front of work, K 4 M C, K 4 Color A sts from d p needle, P 1 M C.
Rows 4, 6, 8, 10 and 12: K 1 M C, P 4 Color A, P 4 M C, K 1 Color A.
Rows 5, 7, 9, and 11: P 1 Color A, K 4 M C, K 4 Color A, P 1 M C.
Row 13: P 1 Color A, sl next 4 M C sts onto d p needle and hold in front of work, K 4 Color A, K 4 M C sts from d p needle, P 1 M C.
Rows 14, 16, 18 and 20: Repeat Row 2.
Rows 15, 17 and 19: Repeat Row 1.
Repeat these 20 rows for left cable twist.
FRONT: Using No. 3 straight needles and M C, cast on 91(95-101-105) sts. K 1, P 1 in ribbing for 3 inches. Change to No. 5 needles. Row 1: Using M C, K 22(24-27-29), work Row 1 of right cable twist on next 10 sts, using Color A, K 27, work Row 1 of left cable twist on next 10 sts, using another ball of M C, K 22(24-27-29). Row 2: Using M C, P 22(24-27-29), work Row 2 of left cable twist on next 10 sts, using Color A, P 27, work Row 2 of right cable twist on next 10 sts, using M C, P 22(24-27-29). Keeping cable twists as established each side of center Color A panel, work even for 0(2-4-8) rows. Then, keeping pattern as established and following chart on center 27 sts, work design in stockinette st until piece measures 11¼(11½-12-12½) inches. SHAPE ARMHOLES: At the beg of each of the next 2 rows bind off 6 sts. Dec 1 st each end of needle every other row 3(4-5-6) times. Work even on 73(75-79-81) sts until armholes measure 4½(4¾-5¼-5¾) inches, ending with a wrong side row. SHAPE NECK: Work 22(23-25-26) sts; sl center 29 sts onto holder, join another ball of yarn and work last 22(23-25-26) sts. Working on both sides at once, at each neck edge bind off 4 sts 0(1-2-3) times and 3 sts 4(3-2-1) times — 10(10-11-11) sts. SHAPE SHOULDERS: At each arm edge bind off 5(5-6-6) sts once and 5 sts once.
BACK: Work in M C stockinette st ONLY to correspond to front, omitting cables and knit-in design and neck shaping until armholes measure 5½(6-6½-7) inches — 73(75-79- 81) sts. SHAPE SHOULDERS: At the beg of each of the next 2 rows bind off 5(5-6-6) sts. At the beg of each of the next 2 rows bind off 5 sts. Sl remaining 53(55-57-59) sts onto a holder.
SLEEVES: Using No. 3 straight needles and M C, cast on 48(48-52-52) sts. K 1, P 1 in ribbing for 3 inches. Change to No. 5 needles and work in stockinette st, inc 1 st each end of needle every 1 inches 6(8-7-9) times. Work even on 60(64-66-70) sts until piece measures 15½(16-16½-17) inches. SHAPE CAP: At the beg of each of the next 2 rows bind off 6 sts. Dec 1 st each end of needle every other row for 2½(3-3½-4) inches. At the beg of each of the next 6 rows bind off 2 sts. Bind off remaining sts.
FINISHING:Sew underarm, shoulder and sleeve seams. Set in sleeves. TURTLENECK: Using d p needles and M C, with right side facing you, pick up 120(124-128-132) sts around neck, including sts from holders. K 1, P 1 in ribbing for 5 inches. Bind off. Block to size.
