MATERIALS
BERNAT Nylo Germantown (2 oz. skeins) — 6(7-7-8) Main Color (M C)
BERNAT Bob-o-Germantown (20 yd. cards) — 2 Color A; 3 Color B
1 pair each straight knitting needles Nos. 6 and 10 OR ANY SIZE NEEDLES WHICH WILL GIVE THE STITCH GAUGE GIVEN BELOW
1 set d p needles No. 6
1 aluminum crochet hook Size G
GAUGE: 11 sts = 2 inches; 6 rows = 1 inch in stockinette st
BACK: Using No. 6 straight needles and M C, cast on 84 (88-92-96) sts. K 2, P 2 in ribbing for 3 inches. Change to No. 10 needles. Row 1: P 1(3-0-2), * K 3, P 2 * repeat between *'s 2(2-3-3) times more, K 15, P 2, repeat between *'s 4 times, K 15, P 2, repeat between *'s 2(2-3-3) times K 3, P 1(3-0-2). Row 2: K 1(3-0-2), * P 3, K 2 *, repeat between *'s 2(2-3-3) times more, P 15, K 2, repeat between *'s 4 times, P 15, K 2, repeat between *'s 2(2-3-3) times, P 3, K 1(3-0-2). Repeat these 2 rows until piece measures 11(11½-12-12½) inches. SHAPE ARMHOLES: At the beg of each of the next 2 rows bind off 5(5-5-6) sts. Dec 1 st each end of needle every other row 4(5-5-5) times. Work even in pattern as established on 66(68-72-74) sts until armholes measure 5½(6-6½-7) inches. SHAPE SHOULDERS: At the beg of each of the next 4 rows bind off 7 sts. At the beg of each of the next 2 rows bind off 5(6-7-8) sts. Sl remaining 28(28-30-30) sts onto a holder.
FRONT: Work to correspond to back until armholes measure 4½(5-5½-6) inches — 66(68-72-74) sts. SHAPE NECK: Work across 22(23-25-26) sts, sl center 22 sts onto a holder; join another ball of yarn and work last 22(23-25-26) sts. Working on both sides at once, at each neck edge bind off 3(3-4-4) sts. Work even on 19(20-21-22) sts on each side until armholes measure 5½(6-6½-7) inches. SHAPE SHOULDERS: At each arm edge bind off 7 sts twice and 5(6-7-8) sts once.
SLEEVES:Using No. 6 straight needles and M C, cast on 40(40-44-44) sts. K 2, P 2 in ribbing for 3 inches, inc at even intervals to 45 sts on last row. Change to No. 10 needles. Row 1: * K 3, P 2, repeat from * twice more, K 15, ** P 2, K 3, repeat from ** twice more. Row 2: * P 3, K 2, repeat from * twice more, P 15, ** K 2, P 3, repeat from ** twice more. Continue in pattern as established, inc 1 st each end of needle every 2(2-1½-1½) inches 4(5-7-8) times, forming new rib patterns as sts are increased. Work even on 53(55-59-61) sts until piece measures 15½(16-16½-17) inches. SHAPE CAP: At the beg of each of the next 2 rows bind off 5(5-5-6) sts. Dec 1 st each end of needle every other row for 3(3½-4-4½) inches. At the beg of each of the next 6 rows bind off 3 sts. Bind off remaining sts.
FINISHING: Sew underarm, shoulder and sleeve seams. Set in sleeves. TURTLE NECK: Using d p needles, with right side facing you, pick up 92(92-96-96) sts around neck, including sts from holders. K 2, P 2 in ribbing for 7 inches. Bind off loosely in ribbing. Block. FLOWER TRIM: Using Color A for stems, make 6 chains each 27 inches in length. Using Color B for flowers, make 6 chains each 15, 12½, 10 and 5 inches in length. Sew stems and flowers to each of the K panels of front, back and sleeves as shown in photograph. Work a french knot in Color A in center of each flower.
