MATERIALS
BERNAT Nylo Germantown (2 oz. skeins) — 6(6-7-7) Main Color (M C); 1 Contrasting Color (C C)
1 each 16 inch and 29 inch circular needles No. 8 OR ANY SIZE NEEDLE WHICH WILL GIVE THE STITCH GAUGE GIVEN BELOW
1 pair straight knitting needles No. 6
GAUGE: 5 sts = 1 inch; 6 rows = 1 inch
TURTLE NECK: Using 16 inch circular needle and C C, starting at turtle neck, cast on 66 sts. Join, being careful not to twist sts. K 1, P 1 in ribbing for 5 inches. SHAPE RAGLAN : Round 1: * Inc 1 st in next st, put a marker on needle, K 2, inc 1 st in next st, repeat from * once more, K 25, repeat from * once more — 8 sts increased. Round 2: Knit. Round 3: * K to 1 st before next marker, inc 1 st in next st, K 2, inc 1 st in next st, repeat from * 3 times more, K to end of round. Repeat last 2 rounds 6(7-8-9) times more — 130(138-146-154) sts. Break off C C. Join M C and continue to inc 8 sts in a round in same manner as before 15(16-17-18) times more — 250(266-282-298) sts.
NOTE: Change to 29 inch needle when there are too many sts on 16 inch needle. DIVIDE FOR BODY AND SLEEVES: K to first marker. Sl next 52(56-60-64) sts onto a holder for right sleeve; sl next 73(77-81-85) sts onto a holder for front; sl next 52(56-60-64) sts onto a holder for left sleeve; sl next 73(77-81-85) sts onto a holder for back. RIGHT SLEEVE: Using M C, with right side facing you, sl 52(56-60-64) sts of right sleeve onto 16 inch needle. Working back and forth in stockinette st, at beg of each of the next 2 rows cast on 2 sts. Continue in stockinette st on 56(60-64-68) sts until piece measures 2 inches above last group of cast on sts. On next row dec 1 st each end of needle and repeat this dec every 1 inch 7(8-9-10) times more. Work even on 40(42-44-46) sts until piece measures 11½(12-12½-13) inches above last group of cast on sts. Change to No. 6 needles and K 1, P 1 in ribbing for 3 inches. Bind off in ribbing. LEFT SLEEVE: Work to correspond to right sleeve. BACK: Using M C, with right side facing you, sl 73(77-81-85) sts of back onto 16 inch needle. Working back and forth in stockinette st, at the beg of each of the next 2 rows cast on 2 sts. Continue in stockinette st on 77(81-85-89) sts until piece measures 9½(10-10½-11) inches above last group of cast on sts. At the beg of each of the next 2 rows cast on 5 sts for facings. Work even on 87(91-95-99) sts for 3 inches more, ending with a K row. Change to No. 6 needles. K the next 2 rows to form hemline, binding off 10 sts at the beg of each row. Continue in stockinette st on 67(71-75-79) sts until piece measures 1 inch above hemline. Bind off. FRONT: Work to correspond to back.
COLLAR: Using 29 inch needle and M C, with right side facing you and holding turtle neck toward you, pick up 130(138-146-154) sts in first M C round. K the next round, inc at even intervals to 150(158-166-174) sts. Then K 1, P 1 in ribbing until piece measures 4 inches. Bind off.
FINISHING: Sew sleeve seams. Turn under and hem facings at lower and side edges. Sew underarm seams, leaving a 3 inch opening above hemline. Block.
