SCALE: 7½ sts to 1 in.

Jack Frost Fingering Fleece—7 1-oz. Balls

BACK: With No. 2 Needles cast on 99 sts. Work in ribbing of K 1, P 1, for 3½ in. Change to No. 4 Needles and P 1 row increasing to 131 sts at even intervals across row. Work even in stockinette st until piece measures 12 in. from lower edge. Bind off 9 sts at beginning of each of next 2 rows for under­arm; decrease 1 st at each end every other row 8 times. Work even until piece measures 2½ in. from underarm, then work in pattern as follows:

Row 1—P 1, * K 5, P 1; repeat from * across row.
Row 2—* P 1, K 1, P 3, K 1; repeat from * across row ending P 1.
Row 3—P 1, * K 1, P 1; repeat from * across row.
Row 4—Repeat row 3.
Row 5—K 2, * P 1, K 1, P 1, K3; repeat from * across row ending P 1, K 1, P 1, K 2.
Row 6—P 3, * K 1, P 5; repeat from * across row ending K 1, P 3.
Row 7—Knit.
Row 8—Purl.
Row 9—Knit.
Row 10—Repeat row 6.
Row 11—Repeat row 5.
Row 12—Repeat row 3.
Row 13—Repeat row 3.
Row 14—Repeat row 2.
Row 15—Repeat row 1, then P 1 row, K 1 row, for 11 rows.
Repeat pattern from row 1 to 10 inclusive; then continuing pattern, bind off 7 sts at beginning of each of next 6 rows for shoulders. P 1 row on right side for turning ridge. P 1 row, K 1 row, for 8 rows for facing. Bind off and sew to wrong side.

FRONT: Work as given for back.

Sew shoulder and underarm seams.

SLEEVES: With No. 2 Needles cast on 89 sts. K 3 rows; then work in pattern as given for yoke for 15 rows. Change to No. 4 Needles and work in stockinette st until piece measures 4½ in. from lower edge. Bind off 9 sts at beginning of each of next 2 rows for underarm; decrease 1 st at each end every other row 8 times, then every 4th row 3 times. Bind off 2 sts at beginning of every row to 17 sts. Bind off remaining sts.

Sew sleeve seams. Sew sleeves in place.
