Size 10 to 12 yr. — Scale: 7 ½ sts to 1 in.

1 Pr. Standard No. 2 Needles—14 in.
1 Pr. Standard No. 3 Needles—14 in.
Gold Medal Fingering Yarn (A Jack Frost Product) —6 1-oz. Skeins

BACK: With No. 2 Needles cast on 90 sts. Work in ribbing of K 2, P 2, for 2 1/2 in. Change to No. 3 Needles increasing to 110 sts at even intervals across row. Work even in stockinette st until piece measures 11 in. from lower edge. Bind off 6 sts at beginning of each of next 2 rows for underarm; decrease 1 st at each end every other row 6 times. Work even until piece measures 5 ½ in. from underarm. Bind off 6 sts at beginning of each of next 8 rows. Change to No. 2 Needles, work in ribbing of K 2, P 2, on remaining 38 sts for 8 rows. Bind off.

FRONT: Work same as back to underarm, then work as follows: bind off 6 sts at beginning of each of next 2 rows for underarm. Work over 49 sts. Place on st-holder. On remaining 49 sts, decrease 1 st at underarm edge every other row 6 times, at the same time start decreasing 1 st at neck edge every other row 5 times, then every 4th row 14 times. Work even until armhole corresponds to back. Starting at shoulder edge, bind off 6 sts every other row 4 times. Work other side to correspond.

FRONT NECKBAND: With No. 2 Needles, on right side of garment, pick up 68 sts from shoulder to point of V, 1 st at point of V, 68 sts from point of V to shoulder. Work in ribbing of K 2, P 2, decreasing 1 st at each side of center st at point of V, every row for 8 rows. Bind off decreasing as described above. Sew shoulder seams.

SLEEVES: With No. 3 Needles, on right side of garment, pick up 26 sts across top of shoulder. Work back and forth in stockinette st, picking up 5 sts at end of each row until 86 sts have been picked up from end to end of armhole. Work 5 rows even. Decrease 1 st at each end every 6th row 6 times, then every 8th row to 60 sts. Work even until sleeve measures 15 in. or desired length from underarm. Change to No. 2 Needles, decreasing to 52 sts at even intervals across row. Work in ribbing of K 2, P 2, for 3 in. Bind off.

Sew underarm and sleeve seams.
