Jack Frost Featherweight Zephyr 3 Fold—3 1-oz. Balls
BACK: With No. 2 Needles cast on 93 sts. Work in ribbing of K 1, P 1, for 1 ¾ in. Change to No. 3 Needles and work in pattern as follows: Row 1 (wrong side)—Purl. Row 2—* K 3, P 7, repeat from * across row ending K 3. Row 3—* P 3, K 7, repeat from * across row ending P 3. Row 4—Repeat row 2. Row 5—Purl. Row 6—P 5, * K 3, P 7, repeat from * ending P 5. Row 7—K 5, * P 3, K 7, repeat from * ending K 5. Row 8—Repeat row 6. The above 8 rows form pattern. Repeat them until piece measures 8 ½ in. from lower edge. Bind off 3 sts at beginning of each of next 2 rows for underarm; decrease 1 st at each end every other row 2 times. Work even in pattern until piece measures 4 ½ in. from underarm. Bind off 8 sts at beginning of each of next 6 rows. Change to No. 2 Needles and work in ribbing of K 1, P 1, on remaining sts for 7 rows. Bind off.
FRONT: Work same as back until piece measures 2 ½ in. from underarm; then work as follows: work over 30 sts. Place on st- holder. Bind off next 23 sts for front of neck. On remaining 30 sts, work 2 rows even, then decrease 1 st at neck edge every other row 6 times. Work even until piece measures 4 ½ in. from underarm. Starting at shoulder edge, bind off 8 sts every other row 3 times. Work other side to correspond.
FRONT NECKBAND: With No. 2 Needles, on right side of garment, pick up 71 sts from end to end of neckband. Work in ribbing of K 1, P 1, for 7 rows. Bind off. Sew shoulder seams.
SLEEVES: With No. 3 Needles, on right side of garment, pick up 33 sts across shoulder. Turn, and purl back picking up 5 sts at end of row. Turn, P 5, * K 3, P 7, repeat from * across row ending K 3. Pick up 5 sts. Turn, K 5, * P 3, K 7, repeat from * across row ending K 5. Continuing pattern, work back and forth picking up 5 sts at end of each row until 83 sts have been picked up from end to end of armhole. Work 5 rows even, then continuing pattern, decrease 1 st at each end every 10th row 6 times, then every 6th row to 59 sts. Work even until piece measures 10 ½ in. from underarm. Change to No. 2 Needles decreasing to 46 sts at even intervals. Work in ribbing of K 1, P 1, for 2 ½ in. Bind off.
Sew underarm and sleeve seams.
