Double Pointed Needle

SCALE: 7½ sts to 1 in.

Jack Frost Featherweight Floss 2 Fold—7 1-oz. Balls

BACK: With No. 2 Needles cast on 128 sts. Work in ribbing of P 2, K 1 (right side), until piece measures 3½ in. from lower edge. Change to No. 5 Needles and work in pattern as follows:
Row 1 (right side)—* P 2, slip next 3 sts to double pointed Needle, hold in back of work, K the next 2 sts, then bring the slipped sts forward and work them in rib of P 2. K 1; repeat from * across row ending P 2.
Row 2—K 2, * P 1, K 2; repeat from * across row.
Row 3—P 2, * K 1, P 2; repeat from * across row.
Row 4—Repeat row 2.
Row 5—P 2, K 1, * P 2, slip next 3 sts to double pointed Needle, hold in back of work, K the next st, then bring the slipped sts forward and work them in rib of P 2, K 1; repeat from * across row ending P 2, K 1, P 2.
Row 6—Repeat row 2.
Row 7—Repeat row 3.
Row 8—Repeat row 4. Repeat above 8 rows until piece meas­ures 12 in. from lower edge. Bind off 9 sts at beginning of each of next 2 rows for underarm; decrease 1 st at each end every other row 9 times. Work even until piece measures 5 in. from underarm. Change to No. 2 Needles and work in ribbing of P 2, K 1 (being sure that ribbing matches with ribbing of pattern), until piece measures 6½ in. from underarm. Bind off 6 sts at beginning of each of next 6 rows for shoulders. Bind off remaining sts for back of neck.

FRONT: Work same as given for back.

Sew shoulder and underarm seams. Turn front neck edge down as illustrated.

SLEEVES: With No. 2 Needles cast on 98 sts. Work in pattern as given for back until piece measures 2 in. from lower edge. Change to No. 5 Needles and continue pattern until piece measures 5 in. from lower edge. Bind off 9 sts at beginning of each of next 2 rows for underarm; decrease 1 st at each end every other row 9 times. Bind off 2 sts at beginning of every row until 18 sts remain. Bind off remaining sts.

Sew sleeve seams. Sew sleeves in place.
