Girl's Classic Blouse

Size 10 to 12 yr. — Scale: 7 ½ sts to 1 in.

1 Pr. Standard No. 1 Needles—14 in.
1 Pr. Standard No. 3 Needles—14 in.
Gold Medal Fingering Yarn (A Jack Frost Product)—6 1-oz. Skeins

BACK: With No. 1 Needles cast on 100 sts. Work in ribbing of K 1, P 1, for 2 ½ in. Change to No. 3 Needles, increasing to 110 sts at even intervals across row. Work even in stockinette st until piece measures 9 ½ in. or desired length from lower edge. Bind off 6 sts at beginning of each of next 2 rows for underarm; decrease 1 st at each end every other row 6 times. Work even until piece measures 4 in. from underarm. Then work in garter st until piece measures 5 ½ in. from underarm. Bind off 6 sts at beginning of each of next 2 rows, then 7 sts at beginning of each of next 6 rows. Change to No. 1 Needles, increasing to 33 sts. Work in ribbing of K 1, P 1, for 8 rows. Bind off.

FRONT: Work same as back until piece measures 4 in. from un-derarm. Working in garter st, work over 33 sts. Place on st-holder. Bind off next 20 sts for front of neck. On remaining 33 sts, work 2 rows even. Decrease 1 st at neck edge every other row 6 times. Work even until piece measures 5 ½ in. from underarm. Starting at shoulder edge, bind off 6 sts once, then 7 sts every other row 3 times. Work other side to correspond.

FRONT NECKBAND: With No. 1 Needles, on right side of garment, pick up 71 sts from end to end of neckband. Work in ribbing of K 1, P 1, for 8 rows. Bind off. Sew shoulder and underarm seams.

SLEEVES: With No. 1 Needles cast on 72 sts. Work in ribbing of K 1, P 1, for 1 ½ in. Change to No. 3 Needles increasing to 78 sts at even intervals across row. Work in stockinette st, increasing 1 st at each end every 4th row to 86 sts. Work even until sleeve measures 4 in. from lower edge. Bind off 6 sts at beginning of each of next 2 rows for underarm; decrease 1 st at each end every other row 6 times. Bind off 3 sts at beginning of every row to 20 sts. Bind off.

Sew sleeve seams. Sew sleeves in place.
