BACK: Using smaller needles, cast on (106-112-118-124-130) (88-94-98-104-108) sts. K 1, P 1 in ribbing for 1½ inches. Change to larger needles and work in stocki­nette st until piece measures 14 inches, ending with a P row. SHAPE FULL-FASHIONED RAGLAN ARM- HOLES: At the beg of each of the next 2 rows bind off (8-9-10-11-12) (5-6-7-9-9) sts. Row 3: K 2, K 2 tog, K to last 4 sts, sl 1, K 1, psso, K 2. Row 4: Purl. Repeat the last 2 rows (30-31-32-33-34) (26-27-28-29- 30) times more. Sl remaining (28-30-32-34-36) (24-26- 26-26-28) sts onto a holder.

LEFT FRONT: Using smaller needles, cast on (58-60-64-66-70) (48-50-54-56-58) sts. K 1, P 1 in ribbing for 1½ inches. Change to larger needles and work in stocki­nette st until piece measures 14 inches, ending with a P row. SHAPE FULL-FASHIONED RAGLAN ARM- HOLE: At arm edge bind off (8-9-10-11-12) (5-6-7-9-9) sts, K to end of row. Row 2: Purl. Row 3: K 2, K 2 tog, K to end of row. Repeat the last 2 rows (24-25-26-27-28) (20-21-22-22-24) times more, ending with Row 3 — (25-25-27-27-29) (22-22-24-24-24) sts. SHAPE NECK: At the beg of the next row P (9-9-11-11-13) (6-6-8-8-8) sts and sl these sts onto a holder, P to end of row. Continue to dec 1 st at arm edge in same manner as before 6 times more, and AT THE SAME TIME, at neck edge bind off 2 sts 4 times. Sl remaining 2 sts onto a holder.

RIGHT FRONT: Work to correspond to left front, re­versing all shaping and forming first buttonhole when piece measures 1 inch. BUTTONHOLE: Starting at front edge, work 2 sts, bind off the next 2 sts, work to end of row. On the next row cast on 2 sts over those bound off previous row. Make 5 more buttonholes, evenly spaced — the last one to be made in neckband. TO DEC FOR FULL-FASHIONED RAGLAN ARMHOLE: K to last 4 sts, sl 1, K 1, psso, K 2.

SLEEVES: Using smaller needles, cast on (42-44-46-48-50) (40-42-44-44-46) sts. K 1, P 1 in ribbing for 2½ inches. Change to larger needles and work in stockinette st, inc 1 st each end of needle every (½) (¾) inch (20-21-22-23-24) (14-15-16-19-19) times. Work even on (82-86-90-94-98) (68-72-76-82-84) sts until piece mea­sures (17½-17½-18-18-18½) inches, ending with a P row. SHAPE FULL-FASHIONED RAGLAN CAP: At the beg of each of the next 2 rows bind off (8-9-10-11-12) (5-6-7-9-9) sts. Dec in same manner as on back. Sl remaining 4 sts onto a holder.

FINISHING: Sew sleeves to back and front armholes. Sew underarm seams. NECKBAND: Using smaller needles, with right side facing you pick up (90-94-98-100-102) (82-84-86-88-90) sts around neck edge, includ­ing sts from holders. K 1, P 1 in ribbing, forming another buttonhole in right front when piece measures ½ inch. Continue in ribbing until entire piece measures 1 inch. Bind off in ribbing. Work 1 row s c on each front edge. Shrinking ribbon first, face fronts. Finish buttonholes. Sew on buttons. Steam seams.
